how to transform a button up shirt into a flower ring

how to transform a button up shirt into a flower ring

I love this "transforming a shirt" project!

We have already made 4 cool things out of that good ol' button up shirt and there will be at least 4 more things.

But let's see what we have made already - a collar, shoe laces, a bandana and a bow! How fun!

So, let's get started with today's tutorial - a super cute (and easy and usual!) flower ring.

Here is what you'll need:

♥ a strap of that good ol' button up shirt fabric (about 12 inch long)
♥ ruffled lace
♥ fabric glue
♥ an old ring
♥ a piece of thicker fabric (denim or felt)
♥ fabric glue

1. fold the strap in half and roll about 1 inch, then add a little bit of glue and roll for another 1/2 inch.

2. Now you'll start twisting the fabric every 1 inch and adding glue at about every 1/2 - 1 inch.

2. Twist. Roll. Glue. Twist. Roll. Glue. And it should look like this.

3. Turn over and glue the lace onto the back of the flower.

4. Cut out a piece of fabric and glue onto the back.

5. Let the glue dry a bit (about 10 minutes) and sew the flower onto the ring.

DIY - Fanny Pack

how to make a fanny pack by asuyeta

I love having my hands free and not having to carry around a purse.

But you know how it is, you need a wallet, keys and your cell phone, right?

A fanny pack is the perfect purse replacement but have you looked at the fanny packs available? Yes, ugly, I know!

And here is where I can help. With a super easy tutorial for a (not your grannies) fanny pack! :)

Let's get started!

how to make a fanny pack by asuyeta

Here is what you'll need:

♥ leather (about 30 inch x 11 inch)
♥ scissors
♥ preferably a sewing machine (but you can also hand stitch it)

how to make a fanny pack by asuyeta

1. Fold the leather and cut the sides (mine is about 6 1/2 inch x 8 1/2 inch). Luckily, mine had the natural curve in the front but you can also cut it that way.

how to make a fanny pack by asuyetahow to make a fanny pack by asuyeta

2. Sew the sides together (I used a zigzag stitch but if you do not have a sewing machine, you can use a blanket stitch that I did here)

how to make a fanny pack by asuyetahow to make a fanny pack by asuyeta

3. Cut two 2 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch leather straps and sew them onto the back.

4. Cut a 60 inch x 1inch leather strap (my leather wasn't long enough, so I sewed two 30 inch straps together).

5. Loop through, tie it around your waist and you are done :)

Now, isn't that a super cool hands-free purse?!
